History
Bildrath Cantemir was a merchant in the Village of Barovia within the larger land of Barovia. He owned the only true store in all of Strahd's lands. This allowed him to choose any prices he wished and he often sold simple goods for ten times their usual cost. If anybody complained he would simply call for his large and intimidating nephew, Parriwimple, to either convince them to buy his goods or toss them out of his store. His high prices and nasty attitude would be his undoing as in 1499 a group of adventurers would come through and attempt to buy from him. When they refused to accept his prices, Parriwimple 'convinced' them to leave. The firbolg named Beguff Oot came to his home in the middle of the night and lit it on fire. Bildrath burned to death as a result.
In the alternate Barovia created by the dark powers, Bildrath was completely identical to his previous incarnation. When adventurers arrived to purchase goods, his prices once again proved too high for their liking. They left without much of a fuss but refused to do business with him in the future.
