Tieoca Nations

The Tieocan Goliaths that settled the forests around the great mountain had a harsh existence. The lands were full of animate plants that react violently to any fauna. Water was hard to find as water sources were where the violent plants were most densely populated. It is said a being of power took pity on the Tieocan people and granted them a great boon. A spring burst forth from the top of the mountain creating a massive lake which flowed off the mountain into many great rivers. The magic that created these rivers caused them to split many times, providing water across the land. The waters of these rivers were blessed to bring the Goliath's in tune with the flora of the island. In appreciation for this gift the people build a great shrine in the center of the mountain lake. The blessing however had different effects on different groups of people, they then fought over who should be the caretakers of the shrine, and who was truly the blessed, forming different nations on the island. This escalated into many wars between the different Tieocan nations. After one great battle when the shrine was nearly set ablaze the leaders of the four nations agreed to a truce. They agreed to form a single nation for mutual protection of the shrine. Leadership would be determined by ritualistic combat every 4 years, the leader who won would have their nation lead the alliance. Over time one of the factions slowly grew to control the whole nation. This is what is recognized as the Tieocan Nation now.
