Hallara Alliance

Hallara is a relatively recent merger of four different nations. The western half used to be the coalition of city states known as Iara and Baplait, while the eastern region was the Kingdom of Hallmar, and Smuan cror. The greatest divide between the four nations is that Hallmar had close connections with the old Infernous Empire while Iara was subservient to the Infernous until the empire fell. Iara was an ununified series cities focused on trade and political maneuvering. Iara was only considered a single body in matters of mutual defense and leveraging foreign markets. Every generation or so the cities of Iara would band together to fend off an attempted conquest by Hallmar, however there had been no such war for a long time. Iara is world renowned for its exquisite glass artistry. A rather infamous part of Iara heritage is the use of assassins on political rivals. These assassins would use glass daggers designed to break off in the target, making its attempted removal cause more damage. Hallmar has very little arable land but has access to massive deposits of coal and iron. Do to the lack of trees and lumber many common items are made from low grade iron. Hallmar smith’s skill rivals that of even the greatest dwarves. The famous Iron Marauder is a heavily armored soldier that can shrug off many a blow. Less than a generation ago there was a great war where Hallmar invaded Iara for its arable land. At first the Hallmar armies easily dispatched the Iara piecemeal defenses. The cities of Iara were more concerned with individual defense and not making a unified front. However when half of Iara was under Hallmar control there was a turning point. At the battle of Ilaidi pass a single soldier somehow won the battle. This soldier knew how to counter every Hallmar move before they could react and lead Iara to victory. With this victory the new hero rallied the cities of Iara to unite and drive Hallmar back into their mountains. With food running short Hallmar eventually surrendered. To avoid future wars the hero declared that the two nations would become one, like they were before the time of the Infernous Empire. Through his overwhelming popular support this surprising action was accomplished forming the new country of Hallara. Many wished for the hero to become their new leader but he left the public eye and has not been seen again. The new nation is not the perfect merger it was supposed to be. The Iaran people say Hallmar should be grateful for the new influx of food. Hallmar says they have very little representation on the new council and are a vassal state in all but name. Despite attempts by leadership to make peace it is clear the Iaran cities are losing their newfound sense of unity and looking inward once again. The Hallmar people become more restless every year. The nation was joined by Smuan cror and Baplait during the Drakken Empire's expansion war.
