The original concept of this world came from a desire to explore elements of traditional fantasy in the landscape of the Caribbean. From there I have been developing a world as it progresses into The Age of Exploration and The Enlightenment, but what is a traditional fantasy?   Most authors that explore this setting draw heavily from Tolkien and iterations on his work. Elements of this work include fantastic races, racialized nations, and heavy reference to Medieval Europe. Many readers of Tolkien-esque work can quickly understand and become familiar with such a setting quickly.   My goal was to determine what such a world would look like if it was pushed into The Renaissance and beyond. What unique challenges it would face, what would happen when the New World is discovered, would the natives even be human?   Due to the chaos surrounding this time and its complex politics my setting compresses the colonial powers of history into two major powers and two minor ones as to not burden the reader with an excessive amount of memorization. The two major powers are Cordellia who draw influence from France and Spain, and The Rosen Empire who draw from Great Britain. The Dutch are somewhat represented by the Nivian Free Cities, one of the minor powers, but they have far less influence on the region than their historical counterpart. The other minor power is The Duchy of Francis Pup, who created secessionist sentiment in the Dorals (Caribbean) and the Empires western fleet with him.   This sets the stage for many interesting adventures as nations clash vying for control a world they have hardly explored.
