World Lore

Background summaries, Shaix Lineage, etc.

World Lore:   Ichar is a fairly young nation, it rose up over the last 950 years, taking over the two other nations that resided there before it: Jemin and Gloria. Jemin was a small country of mostly tritons, gnomes and halflings and Gloria was a large tribe of tieflings. Ichar started as a people of mostly elves (originally of Shaix) and humans, and the royal family reflected that. (Before the royal family was formed, there was a small devout religious village of purely humans and elves that had been around for over 800 years already. They were eventually named Rhoadoxys and assimilated into Ichar but were a separate state given special privilege. They fell 150 years ago due to internal disputes and violent revolution.)    The nation which Ichar replaced was called Uldurin, and was a nation ruled by gnomes, and also had many humans, halflings, and dwarves. The capital of Uldurin, Quenton, was completely destroyed in the Calamity. The Calamity also completely destroyed a major Othelan city (that had driven the Earth Genasi out and took over their territory a few years earlier. The Earth Genasi moved their people into the crater in the aftermath of the Calamity and remained there until they disappeared about 150 years ago), and wiped out an island nation that no one has any knowledge of.    Bostvaria is about 400 years old under that name, it used to be the twin nations of Boria and Farnell.    Ladina is almost 2000 years old, becoming a nation soon after the calamity, and Thellor is about 3000 years old.    Othela is hard to say because it has existed in several different forms over 6000+ years, but the Genasi Tribes are about as old as anything.) Before the Calamity, Othela was made up of the tribe of Aarokocra in the mountain, and a kingdom of Drow that ruled over goblin clans, a Kenku village, and had a large population of human and halfling slaves.   The Shaix Dynasty is a little over 6000 years old.    The first emperor was Di’noa Shaix. Di’noa was the youngest of 12 in the small tribe of elves in the land that was known as the Land of the Sun. At this time there were no nations, only tribes of people. In the Land of the Sun there were the Yuan-ti, the lizardfolk, the tabaxi, the tieflings, the goliaths, and the travellers from the fey realm: the rabbitfolk. Life was anarchy and constant war, always tribe vs. tribe in a brutal struggle for survival in the harsh desert climate. The Yuan-ti held claim of the sand tunnels, the Lizardfolk laid claim of the rocky plateaus, the goliaths laid claim to the mountains and the rabbitfolk had claim of the oasis. Tieflings, and elves had to suffer in the true cruel heat of the desert, but the burning sun had no real effect of the tieflings’ tough devil skin. Di’noa, according to legend, wandered past the mountains and spent 2 centuries completely alone before returning to his people with a new mind and soul. He rallied his people and eventually the Shaix Dynasty was first founded, with Di’noa declaring himself the first emperor, above even his father and brothers. It took over 4 centuries for Shaix to conquer all of the tribes, but the Dynasty was complete before the end of Di’noa’s reign.    The next emperor in line was his son, Jei’xo, but his reign was cut short in the 3rd century by his cousin Laix, who had gathered a coup and assassinated most of Di’noa’s family line. Laix reigned for 5 centuries before passing the throne to his son, Sai’far. Sai’far reigned for 6 centuries before passing to his second born son, Ki’lin.    His first born, Xi, was banished a century before for treason, and legend says he travelled far with his family and started his own tribe in a far off land. There are tales that say Xi found the land where the remains of Di’noa’s bloodline were living. They joined together to found the tribe that eventually, millenia later, became the kingdom of Ichar.    The reunion of Xi and Di’noa’s bloodline lit a spark in one of Di’noa’s descendants, In’xai, and she took a party and made the long trek back to her homeland. She arrived in the second century of Ki’lin’s reign and declared her vengeance on the emperor and his ancestor, Laix. They slaughtered every member of the house of Laix, and In’xai took the throne as the first ruling empress of Shaix. In’xai ruled for 7 centuries before passing the throne to her son, Juno.    Juno reigned for 4 centuries before he was assassinated by a Yuan-ti. This was what sparked the Yuan-ti genocide of 2,598 Pre Calamity, that still scars their population to this day. Juno’s son In’xar took the throne and reigned for 5 centuries before succumbing to illness and passing the throne to his eldest daughter, Lei’xo. She reigned for 6 centuries before passing the throne to her son Kai. Kai reigned for 3 centuries before the Great Goliath War began. He reigned for almost another century before he was slain in battle and his son Zei’kel took the throne. The Great Goliath War ended in the 2nd century of Zei’kel’s reign and he reigned for another 4 centuries after. The throne then passed to Zei’kel’s son Ur, who reigned for less than a century before succumbing to illness, and the throne was passed to his sister Zei’vel. Zei’vel reigned for 5 centuries, through the Northern Orc Invasion and the Great Drought that cut the population of the Shaix Dynasty nearly in half.    In the second century of Zei’vel’s reign, the Calamity fell upon the lands to the South, wiping out entire populations, declaring a change in time and history and leaving the earth forever changed. Zei’vel remains the only empress or emperor to have reigned through so many world-changing events. Only Zei’vel’s youngest daughter Xia remained of her household after Zei’vel passed, so she took the throne despite not even being half way through her first century of life. Xia’s uncle Tion guided her through almost 2 centuries of reign before he died, and Xia went on to reign for 4 more centuries despite internal disputes and power struggle from the people. She was then assassinated by her cousin, Ty’rein, who ruled for less than a century before he too was assassinated by his cousin, Di’voa, the youngest son of Tion. Di’voa reigned for almost 6 centuries before he died, leaving no heir having never found a wife or fathered a child.    Instead, his sister Ji’noa’s son Yvon took the throne, since Ji’noa was too old to rule. Yvon reigned for nearly 3 centuries through the Trade Revolution and the Mechanical Uprising where Shaix began to make more trade and contact with Ichar and other nations, establishing trade routes, tourism, and advancing technology. Yvon died suddenly from what was believed to be a heart condition, but there have always been suspicious rumours around his death.    His son Xa’var is the current reigning emperor for almost 3 centuries and has advanced relations especially with Ichar and Bostvaria, as well as Ladina, Thellor and Redrock. Xa’var does not get on very well with the leaders of Othela, so trade and relations are tense. Xa’var is not very popular with his people, but his son Yua is much more well-liked and popular.
