Aether / Sunsblood

Aether is the scientific name for the many-colored substance collected in crystal or liquid form and converted to gas for use in fueling the Sarporean aether-rails, artificially constructed beings, city lighting, airship engines, and countless other thaumechanical devices. Called sunsblood by the oreads who mine it in Nexus and aether in Sarpor, the substance leaks through rifts between Mundus and the entropic plane, and is difficult to obtain because of the geological instability and roving proteans that also originate with such rifts. When combusted, the gas releases large quantities of chaos magic which can be harnessed for power. If not handled carefully, aether destabilizes its environment, and it produces uniquely unpleasant side effects when inhaled.
