Tore Qudu

Great Khatun Tore Qudu (a.k.a. Bastard-Born, Halfblood, Snake-Eye)

The second Khan to ever be elected by the Khormchak tribes, and the first female Khan, Tore Qudu or Tore Khatun is the half-orc leader of the Khormchak Khanate.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

"The Snake Eye"   Tore Khatun's left eye is a dark shade of green and has a misshapen pupil resembling a coiled serpent. This deformity was seen by the Khormchaks as a sign that Tore was not to be trusted. Rumors abound that Tore's snake eye allows for her to shapeshift into a serpent, or see into the future.

Personal history

The daughter of one of Rakkudir Qudu's human concubines, taken during a raid, Tore was born with a physical deformity called the "Snake Eye" - her left eye was dark green with a misshapen pupil resembling a coiled serpent. Her deformity, along with her half-human ancestry, resulted in her being ostracized by most and being seen as untrustworthy. After the death of her father during a raid by the Stigurd tribe, Tore Qudu took control of the Qudu tribe after killing her elder brother and defeating the Stigurd tribe's khan in single combat, earning her the respect of her father's bannermen.   In the years leading up to the Magdar War, Tore Qudu waged war against rival tribes, eventually growing her military host large enough to be granted a seat at the meeting in Rowarin where the Western Pact was struck. With her host of 10,000, Tore Qudu distinguished herself in battle after relieving the besieged Urileth Guard at the Siege of Yelkian, where her warriors ambushed the besieging Magdar forces and took the head of the vampire commander. Shortly after the Rurikid Principality withdrew its forces from the Magdar War Tore Qudu followed suit, sensing the war could not be won and wishing to avoid disaster.   For the next two years Tore Qudu continued to expand her control over lesser tribes and growing her own tribe until she was eligible to attend the Second Kurultai, bring with her an army of 10,000 mounted warriors. Her unexpected attendance and political control forced the majority of the other attending warlords to form a political alliance to prevent her from being elected Khatun, and the opposing warlords chose one of their own, an orc named Naiman, to act as Tore's political rival. When the election saw both Naiman and Tore come to a draw, Tore challenged Naiman to a wrestling match and killed him by snapping his back in two.   Following her election into the position of Great Khatun of the Khormchaks, Tore Khatun passed a law forbidding the Khormchaks from raiding and enslaving one another as was the Khormchak way of life. While this laws was heavily opposed by the many warlords and warriors under Tore Khatun's rule, she was able to convince and intimidate them all into accepting the law so that the Khormchaks may grow strong enough and united enough to pose a serious threat to the now-fractured Rurikid Principality.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Despite not being as proficient as many other warlords in direct combat, Tore Qudu's cunning and firm grasp of tactics and grand strategy enabled her to outmaneuver and defeat dozens of other warbands over the course of her rise to power.   Tore Qudu distinguished herself in battle during the Siege of Yelkian, where her troops successfully defeated a vampire army laying siege to the town of Yelkian. Tore herself is said to have taken the vampire commander's head in battle.   Under her rule a law was passed that, for the first time in history, forbid the Khormchaks from raiding and enslaving one another.
