The Anessar

Tales long forgotten once spoke of beings who lived above the stars and walked among the gods. These legends claim that they were of the angelic order, noble in cause and terrible to behold. But something happened one day, something that caused all traces of them and their former home to disappear. Now only figments remain of their former glory.

Summary

What few stories are told come from bits and pieces of myths and legends scattered among the various races of the world. Some believe that war broke out among the angels, vying for positions of authority above others of their kind, resulting in all of them being eradicated by the gods. Others believe that they were never really angels but wishful mortals whose ideals of grandeur stunted their race from participating with the world around them. Still others believe that the Anessar aren't truly gone, but are waiting to reclaim their birthright, returning the world to its proper state. These are the hopefuls, but one never truly knows.

Historical Basis

The fact that all races seem to have a recollection of something happening long ago that disrupted the relationships of the gods puts this story within the realm of possibility. There might have been several races now extinct that were present when the gods walked upon the earth in the days of yore. For now, they remain as myths for the hopeful.
