Aspects

What is an Aspect?   Aspects are metaphysical representations of the properties of an object. When an object has more of an Aspect, it has more of that property. These properties could be anything you might think of to describe an object or person. Aspects exist in the Aetherial realm.   The easiest way to understand aspects is through their properties, its values and effect. The effect is the role the aspect has on reality, and values are numbers which determine the degree of an effect. These numbers appear to be based on the perception of the user, matching the number system one is familiar with.   Lets use the heat aspect as an example, as it is a basic aspect with an easily definable effect and only one value. Heat's effect is determining the temperature of the object it resides in with the value referring to a numerical representation of temperature. low values are colder and higher values are hotter. Many aspects are less easily definable, such as the abstract aspect fear, which can have many effects and has 5 values associated with it.   Another way to understand aspects is to understand the way they are categorized. Aspects are formally divided into many categories, the most common of which is value complexity, or the number of values an aspect has. Aspects with only one value are one dimensional, two are two dimensional, and so on. the highest dimensional aspect discovered is eleven dimensional. an example of a one dimensional aspect is the previously mentioned heat, which has a value that only moves up and down. a higher dimensional aspect is position, which has seven values (however only 5 are consistently modifiable). There are other ways to categorize aspects, but we will discuss that in a later chapter.   For now we will go over a few other important features of aspects. One such feature is the ability to combine aspects. all but four aspects (the Primals) can theoretically be divided into one or more other aspects, though the more complex the more difficult this task is. One could even say that all aspects are combinations and ratios of the Primals. The four indivisible aspects are Position, Form, Energy, and Mass. Each of these aspects will likely get their own chapter, as they are vital to understanding how to utilize magic. Once they have moved past simple aura manipulation, an aspiring mage should focus on identifying and manipulating the primals first first.

Manifestation

Aspects are invisible when viewed in our regular plane, but when viewed in the spirit realm appear as multicolored bubbles which can wildly morph in color, shape, and size. All of the aspects which make up an object create a vague shape of the object if one doesn't clearly look at it, but when one focuses on a single aspect it enlarges and more resembles a sphere.
