Ymbert, Archmage

One of the two of the original heroes who is still alive and remains in the golden council, he is a tiefling who is cursed with a long life and a dreaded curse. Ymbert has (magic) a long history, begining in Mirian. He was a noble who joined the college of magecraft. He was not especially talented, but very tenacious, a good trait for a wizard. Ymbert would leave the college and go adventuring for many years, believing that he would continue to do so until he retired. However on one adventure Ymbert would loose many of his companions, and only a treasure to remember them by. This treasure he would much later learn was the ever-bracer of memories (See STS notes). He mourned his friends, but ultimately continued with his life. Eventually he would retire from adventuring due to age, however he had no physical complaints despite the fact that he should be nearing the end of his life, and he still looked relatively young as well. He would outlive all the people he knew and cared about, and when he heard about the invasion of the goblin lands, he signed up, thinking that if his life would not end naturally, he would give it a final nudge. At the time he was already a renowned arch-mage. Yet Ymbert fought recklessly, but he never died, no matter the situation, his very presence seemed to be death-defying. Through this unique disposition he would rise to become one of the 14 great heroes of the goblin wars. Having unintentionally failed in his suicidal mission, Ymbert began to see halucinations of his loved ones, telling him to keep them alive through his memory. By the en vb d of the war he grew absent minded, and in the midst of his fame he disapeared, he was keen to live out the rest of his life alone. This plan also failed, his situation got worse, he would discover this the first time he woke up in a place he did not recognize: Shadowfell. He returened from shodwfell, but every month, on the full moon he would find himself returned to shadowfell. He returned to Ronim, where the great city of Bazure was being built. He was seeking help, the king offered him anything within his power if only Ymbert joined his royal council. Ymbert agreed, and indeed there where some things that helped his situation, but they only reduced the effects, not fully stop his curse. Eventually Ymbert learned that it was the very bracer he was wearing that caused him the tumoil, but when he tried to rid himself of it he could not take it of, when he tried he would be filled with visions of his friends, begining him to keep them safe, to let them enjoy the afterimage of life. Others tried to remove the bracer from him, but most died, those who didn't went insane. At this point Ymbert, while still using the connections and influence of the king, secluded himself whenever duty did not call for him. He read and researched all he could, he collected magical items, and created secret hoards that rivaled that of some dragons. But it all amounted to nothing. He remains within the council and advises the current King on any magical matter. But his heart is not in it, and only duty to his past drives him. When he is not needed he burries himself in books and possesions, hopeing to find the secret to mortality.  (lvl 19 wizard, lvl 10 sorcerer, age 278)
