Isolde, blood of Krea

Krea was a Genasi, as such Isolde still has the traits of a Genasi, but a thinner blood connection to the elemental heritage. Isolde is a water Genasi, who has studied magic her whole life. As was expected of her, she had an aptitude for magic, which she learned to harness during her military service. After this isolde traveled to Nessin, thinking that her magical abilities where near unrivaled. This opinion of hers would change quickly when she met Dimia Unstorm. Dimia accepted a challenge, a magical bout from Isolde, which she won handily. However impressed with Isolde's vigor, she invited her to the Astral academy, where she would end up working and learning for the next couple years of her life. Isolde would become especially knowledgeable on magic concerning planar travel, but also learned about many other parts of magic. Eventually Isolde realized that she had to broaden her understanding of magic to give advice worthy of a royal council member. Hence she left the academy, and traveled to Gustar, especially having learned that the magical energy there is more influenced by external planes, it is not rare to find portals to the fey wilds or shadowfell here. During these years Isolde would live a harsh life, constantly being attacked by the residence of the area. However she learned much of the magical counterparts to the physical world. When she returned to Bazure at the age of 32 she would study all manner of races, and their affiliations to other planes, about crypts and sacred ritual sites, about natural cycles beyond the physical realm which left traces within the physical world. She continued doing so after joining the royal council, which was also the first time she got to interact with Ymbert. While she had been aware that Ymbert, one of the original 14 heroes was still alive and on the council, because he didn't show himself when not needed, she had never met him before. She also underestimated his legendary mastery of magic. Whilst Isolde had learned that her magic was not unparalleled form her time in the astral academy, she hadn't lost her competetive pride. She kept trying to outdo Ymbert, to gain his recognition as a rival on the royal council, but he never acknowledged her, always besting her in knowledge and never discussing her flaws. Eventually when Isolde had a phase of learning about curses, she realized that Ymbert carried a curse far greater than any she had ever heard of. Eventually she confronted him about it, asking weather he knew what it was. Ymbert told her to stay out of business that wasn't hers, but when she persisted saying this was her domain of expertise, maybe she could help. Ymbert simply sighed and showed her his bracer: "if you really wish to know, touch it, and see if you still think you can help me thereafter" she touched the bracer and saw flashes of Ymbert's past, alongside an overwhelming darkness, a glimpse into the depths of shadowfell. Ever since she sees a black aura around Ymbert, a reminder of her powerlessness to his curse, a reminder that she could not truely master the darkness she thought she knew so much about. Watching as day after day Ymbert would retreat to continue his research on lifting the curse that was set on him. This led Isolde to develop a bit of an inferiority complex with Ymbert, feeling that anything she could do, Ymbert could do better, any problems Isolde might have, Ymbert had them tenfold.  (Sorcerer 13, lvl 7 wizard, age 37)
