The Royal Butcher

A man or well myth who lived or lives in infamy and mythistacism is known by all as the Royal Butcher of Zulling. But his true name is known by very few and his true purpose known by far fewer. This legend was once Prince Alverdian Zeraxies of the Zulling royal family the pride and joy of the family, a rising figure on a island in termoil, he was expected to be the next in line as while his older brother technically held superior age he had been stricken by the family affliction. This affliction known as the Westric Root was a condition in which thorny bloodd red vines would grow from the skin infesting the vitims. Usually the condition is begnin and just a nusance that you have to prune every so often and have to deal with minor discomfort but his older brothers condition was unexplainebly worse with the roots have growing so deep and imbeded into the body that they had paralized him by cutting the nerves to his legs leaving him bed ridden. Alverdian while very caring of his brother his need for power was absolute and he began making power plays and embroiling himself in religion growing more and more fearfull of his families condition. To most they did not care who the sucessor would be as the majority of the people were poor farmers working on the east side of the isalnd but it seemed some cared more than others, as for the legend goes on the day before the true sucessor was announced someone took action, for why no one knows. It could be they feared the weaknesses of the hiers or could be one of the revolutionaries that plauged the island, but whoever they were was like a ghost somehow passing through the gates, the gaurd, and the castle walls unseen where this person unleashed carange through the halls of the castle. The only description ever known of the killer was a person in torn hunters close and the blood stained full helm of a royal gaurd to hide their face. This killer stalked the halls and nearly ended the Zulling royal family i one night, the king, queen, six of the eight royal children dead, and the personal gaurd as well as several servants and nobels in the castle dead. But of the survivors one was always looked on strangley, that being the eldest child who would survive the massacre, the deatil that perplexed many was the fact that the killer had found their way to his room, marked by a trail of bloody foot prints, yet they did not kill the bed ridden hier even though they shared no such mercy to the rest of the family. The only other hier to escape this brutality was the youngest daughter, she had managed to escape the killer by luck as she was not in her bed when the killer found her instead she was wandering back from a midnight glass of water when she found the killer. She would barley survive having run away and hid avoiding the killer and being another name on the list of the deseased. After the brutal murders the killer's fate is a mystery. Some say he was executed while vowing a curse to finish the job which he had started, others think he still lives having slipped off into the night having done the damage he wished to do. But truely no one knows all that is known is that what this killer did changed the very way of life for the people of Zulling and what would be Gilla as with the royal family mostly buried and many nobel families to scared to step up with fear the killer might strike again a more republic state was established with representitives voting on decisions and with the govermental figurhead being that of Island govenor, as after Zulling split into Zulling and Gilla they needed one point of unity to prevent more civil conflict and the brutal suppression from the Empire that it entails. So this roll which has power in both provinces was established. Though in the curent year in the island's history is a historic one as there are two people running who have caught the public's eye as well the two remaining hiers of the Zulling royal family are running for the position. Though this hsitorical political action has brought rumors and stories that the Royal Butcher may now return to finsih what he started.
