These entities are the closest to what we might think of as true Divinity: their reach and knowledge is so far beyond mortal understanding that they very well might be omniscient and omnipotent. They exist on planes that are truly apart from the rest of the world - a rarity in this reality. The ability to traverse to their realms unbidden is something only whispered about in legends. They are also the creators of this world - the destroyers of the old and the saviours of the new. It is by their combined hands that Varada exists instead of oblivion. Because of this, almost all the mortal and immortal peoples of this world would know of these Divinities. Many too would pay all three homage of some kind, though it differs whether that is out of blind respect, fear or genuine worship. Though it lacks the structure and hierarchy of other religions, the most common religion of Varada is that loose, combined worship of the Three Mothers. Scholars of the modern age of this world also call and categorise these three as the "
", to distinguish them from other deities.
The Gods are what remains of untold thousands of pantheons and deities destroyed in the Cataclysm of Leviathan's Flood. They each hold the sparks of Divinity and can grant powers and boons to their followers. Yet unlike the Gods of the worlds that came before, they cannot offer them an afterlife. That is the sole domain of the Grey Mariner, who guides the souls of the dead to the Silent Shore. Instead, the Gods exist as part of the world - each with their own domain and plane accessible by the magical portals, maelstroms or seas of Varada (made possible by Ostara). Though for mortal beings, accessing these realms would be extremely difficult. Those that have accomplished such tasks are the subjects of legends and stories.
The Gods still exert their will and desires on mortal peoples - vying to extend their reach into all of Varada. For though the quieting of the storms at the end of the Cataclysm brought about a kind of truce among this Pantheon, for fear of incurring Leviathan's wrath once more, they each plan and gather their power. Scholars of the modern age of the world have come to call and categorise this group as the "
", both to distinguish them from the Three Mothers but also because it would seem the pantheon is solidified in some mystical way not yet known to mortals. Though there are old alliances, new upstart Exalted and religions that wax and wane with the tide of mortal attention, no powerful Exalted has yet managed to ascend to the pantheon, nor any weakened Kythra has been expelled from it. There has also never been any open conflict between any of the Kythra since the Quieting. These theological mysteries are something unanswered by the Gods themselves and serve to only inflame mortal curiosity.
And why do mortals turn to these Gods, when there is but one who determines the fate of their souls? Power is one answer - the Gods bestow it freely on their faithful, and such forces can and have been used for incredible acts of charity and terror. Fate is another - sometimes a God or Exarch will choose a mortal for a purpose, even against their will. Belonging is another - those that seek a community beyond the place and circumstances of their birth often find what they are looking for in the myriad religions of this world. But the small, secret answer in the backs of many mortal minds is immortality. A rare thing, spoken of in hushed tones as it is perhaps the only subject regarded as heresy by most religions as it directly opposes the Grey Mariner. But the legend persists that if a mortal rises in the esteem of a God to such a degree, and manages to make the journey to the distant shores of their realm, they may be raised to their side and made immortal so as to escape the Silent Shore. It is the rumoured origins of many of the Exarchs of these Gods and the secret desire of many who follow them.

Gods are not the only forces in this world that may grant the powers of domains, oaths or pacts, there are also those lesser idols known as the Exalted. These are many and varied; from powerful immortal beings, to exarchs or saints of the Gods. They may be more likely to interact with much of the mortal world due to being less removed from it. These beings may present themselves in many different ways, some might appear as honourable guardians of the helpless, and others as tyrannical despots vying for power. Many of these beings have ambitions they wish to fulfil and can offer great power to mortals in exchange for their servitude.

Countless deities and pantheons have perished in the millenia before the Flood, and then that great catastrophe wiped out even more Gods both by collateral and by war and murder. Those listed here are only a selection of those that are remembered long after their demise. Some of their religions cling to their traditions even centuries after the Flood, though hope that their Gods may not in-fact have perished dwindles every day.
