Sybil Order

Dominico de Maledictus

Those marked with the Eye of the Leopard are sure to see an end to their days. None who have been marked have survived. You'd best be wary of your enemies, lest the wrath you incur should involve a contract with the Sybil Order.
Even in times of the greatest peace, the Sybil Order haunts the dreams of those with anything to lose. It is the most notorious assassins guild in all of Vana, its rivals paling in comparison to The Order's renown. One of its greatest weapons lies in secrecy. The organization is a mystery to the masses; almost like a ghost or specter that fades in and out of perception. Menacing and silent as the fog. They've a trove of secret weapons, potions, spells, and treasures kept hidden from any outside the order. Those who seek to learn more of The Order have one of two options: forget their past and join the ranks, or die.

Structure

Not much is known about the structure of The Order. There are a few clear distinctions to the outside eye. First, there are the sages and the ordinaries. Not every assassin has magic. Typically those without magic are given assignments for smaller targets while sages have the privilege of going after kings and queens. Then there are those within the circle of sages who are granted the knowledge of secret spells, and those who aren't. It is said that the most dangerous assassins, those with the ability to pass through crowds unseen, are the chosen few that carry the organization on their shoulders. Attempts at learning more end poorly for all involved. The assassins of the Sybil Order would sooner kill themselves than risk exposing the secrets of their organization.

Public Agenda

What purpose could an assassin guild possibly have other than gaining riches from another's torment? The most heinous and zealous criminals call The Order their home. They take what they can when they kill, making off with treasure to rival that of kings and queens. Simply uttering their name can sway the hearts of those wise enough to fear them. Why, then, is it that the Sybil Order is so often at the center of world-altering conflicts and events? Perhaps their purpose is far more than meets the eye...

Assets

It is said that The Order is privy to endless hordes of gold, treasure, and enchanted items. That their stock runs deeper than that of the most prosperous kingdom in the history of Vana. They've ships and horses and war hounds and spirits - it all must come from somewhere. And yet their birth has never been found. Or, if it has, then the poor sod who discovered it took the information to his early and bloody grave.

History

The first known mention of The Order lies within an ancient text written over three thousand years ago. In following texts, historians have been able to determine times of great prosperity within The Order and differentiate those with times of draught, so to speak. The influence of The Order can be tracked throughout history - starting somewhere on the continent of Caladvel and then spreading to every corner of Vana, but their stronghold is yet undiscovered. Much like the current state of things, The Order's past is shrouded in mystery.

All is seen under the watchful eye.
