Shield

Ah, the standard spell that debuts in just about every magic system ever... but mine's better. Because I'm biased.

Effect

A simple ward cast in front of the user's body to protect from minor physical and magical attacks.

Side/Secondary Effects

Well if you don't cast it right and someone tries to stab you, they'll probably succeed. So... don't mess up!
Also, it can only take so much damage before is dissipates and shatters.

Manifestation

The ward spirals with soft, silver light and takes a simple oval shape. When the ward reaches its limit of defense, it shatters and the shards fly outward before they fade away.

Gestures & Ritual

The user must keep their hand held in front of them or the shield will fade.
