Sage Sight

Do not - I repeat DO NOT - touch anything in the treasure room of an old, abandoned tunnel or dungeon or kingdom or what-have-you. UNLESS it's been verified by a diviner that you won't, in fact, become plagued by vicious nightmares for the rest of your life, or suddenly develop a bleeding condition, or lose all of your hair, or - I think you see my point. It's very wise indeed for a traveler to bring along a diviner to avoid any unnecessary tragedies whilst exploring the deep reaches of the world. You may even find something that's actually valuable with their help.   Also also - since sages draw their power from the spiritual world, there are many places in Vana that enhance spells from a certain school. Obviously, don't fight a solar sage someplace where primal energy dominates all the other energies. There are obvious places with such an effect (a volcano, for example), but there are magical ley lines that are invisible to the naked eye. This is where diviners come in handy!

Effect

Sage sight allows the caster to see what items in the area were created by magic or otherwise affected by magic. It also allows them to see what sort of magic the item was created or affected by. This also works for people or other animate beings: the caster can see which areas of magic another sage is strongest in or if an animal has a particular connection to one of the magical disciplines. It works similarly for spirits, as well. And lastly, it allows the caster to see magical ley lines.

Side/Secondary Effects

If the caster holds this spell for too long a time, it may temporarily blur their vision or even blind them. There have been tales of sages who hold onto the spell for so long that it's become second nature to them and they can't revert back to their normal vision. The easiest way to avoid this, obviously, is not to be a dumb ass.

Manifestation

The diviner's eyes gain a soft glow dependent on their eye color - this is the only indication to others that a sage has cast this spell.   For the caster, the natural world fades into dulled colors and the spiritual world jumps out with wild, bright, and shifting colors. Sometimes it seems as though the colors put on a performance for the diviner. It's one of the most beautiful sights for any sage to see, and the colors are more beautiful the closer the spiritual world is to a particular location.

Well, as far as the obvious goes, one would think that a blind diviner couldn't use this spell... THEY'D BE WRONG. Diviners who are born blind learn this spell so they can better "see" their surroundings. For the blind it's less like sight, though, and more like a strong sense. Like how you can sense the hand of the little grabby toddler as they try to steal a cookie while your back is turned.   It's still difficult to navigate with such vision, seeing as how some objects bear no spiritual or magical weight whatsoever, so they fade into the background. It takes practice to be able to live with this vision.
