Raise Corpse

The staple spell in necromancers of almost all the universes to ever universe. Raise a body from the grave to fight.   Unlike most depictions, this spell isn't capable of creating all-powerful armies of the dead impervious to physical attacks and equipped with hefty armor. As a matter of fact, corpses are more like floppy noodles. They may be an effective distraction, but that's about it. Even if the corpse is freshly expired, it will be quite weak and slow.

Effect

Raise a corpse from the dead to fight for the caster.

Side/Secondary Effects

Though the corpses aren't particularly strong, they still take a lot of energy to raise them up. The average sage can only cast the spell on two or three corpses at a time.   Also, the corpses of sages are, in fact, able to cast spells. But the spells are minor ones and will cause the corpse to deteriorate even faster.

Manifestation

The caster sends a ball of green light toward the intended corpse, and the light is absorbed. The corpse's eyes begin to glow green as it stands and raises its weapons once again.

Being that a corpse is, well - dead, pumping it full of magical energy causes it to decompose faster. The spell will run out once the corpse disintegrates.   Most normal people don't take kindly to the undead walking around. Necromancers are typically disliked by ordinaries, but their talents aren't outlawed. If they aren't careful, however, they may run into an angry mob or two.
