Major Starburst

The next step up from minor starburst, and officially a forbidden spell. Only sages with the intention of destroying kingdoms use this spell.

Effect

An explosion that can level a kingdom and leave no survivors.

Side/Secondary Effects

The area that this spell affects isn't going to survive. But even the life outside the explosion will be tainted. Ash will rain down for miles. The smell of burning corpses will travel far. And for those who are unfortunate enough to be just out of range of instantly dying in the flames, may yet perish to poison and sickness.

Manifestation

A large ball of fiery gas settles over the target area. Its flames are bright yellow and it wipes out the shadows left behind by the sun. Anyone who is able to see the star is most likely too close to outrun it. The explosion rocks the foundation of the earth.

The spell must be cast at least a league out of range. The spell's blast can reach up to two square leagues.

Very few sages in the entire history of Vana have the power to cast this spell alone and survive. The spell is so powerful and so draining that it can take up to fifteen elder-level sages to complete. Elder-level isn't granted to just anyone, and it comes with a lifetime of studying and practice. Many don't make it that far.
