Frost Breath

Finally a sustainable way to keep meat fresh that doesn't involve salting the flavor out of it or turning it into tough, leather-like strips. I mean... of course I use my magic for things other than food... I'm not a heathen...
Kirileia
One of the first spells a primal sage learns - often without any instruction. It's not very strong, but it has some everyday uses and can work for a sage in a tight spot. One of the most common uses is freezing food or cooling off on a particularly warm day.

Effect

The caster takes a deep breath and when they exhale, their breath becomes frost. This may freeze an object or chill a creature - it may even slow said creature's reaction speed.

Side/Secondary Effects

Failing the spell can result in a painful case of brain freeze, or perhaps some chilly insides, but nothing fatal. Hence, why it's safe for sages with little experience to run wild with.

Manifestation

The frost glitters white as it disperses, and it makes crackling sounds as it freezes the air or the target object.

The spell caster's lung capacity affects the length they may use the spell. Since it's a minor spell, not many bother to increase their lung capacity to enhance their performance on this spell... But the longer a target is engulfed in the frost, the colder they become, and in some cases they may freeze solid. This usually requires a high level of mastery over this spell.
