Dragon Scales

By far one of the strongest defensive spells in the transmutation subclass. Stronger than any chainmail or armor and lighter to boot. Perfect for sages who want high speed and attack power and need a strong defense to make up for it. There are few spells able to pierce a dragon's scales, and even fewer weapons.

Effect

Turn the caster's skin into near-impenetrable dragon scales of any color.

Side/Secondary Effects

Should the caster leave the spell going for too long a time, it can result in permanence. To avoid having dragon scales for the rest of their lives, a sage must regulate the amount of time they use it. Not that anyone wouldn't want dragon scales.

Manifestation

Transmuters have described the formation of the scales as a tingling and prickling that crawls over their skin following the scales. Though the scales are cool to the touch on the outside, they almost burn the transmuter's skin as they form. The clink of metal on metal resonates as the scales push up against one another during their growth. Each scale shines with a metallic sheen, and may be all a different color, or the same.
