Dome Shield

When someone is injured in the middle of the battlefield, a healer can't just stop and heal them up without any defense. That is the primary use for this spell, though it can also be used as a defense for multiple party members against a large magical attack.

Effect

A highly defensive ward that spans a large area in a dome shape to protect from attacks on all sides.

Side/Secondary Effects

Since the spell requires two hands to cast, the caster can't cast any other spells for the duration of this one. This is why restoration sages most often travel in pairs.

Manifestation

As with all wards, this one shines with a swirling, silver light.

Gestures & Ritual

The caster must lift both their hands and keep them aloft. In the palms of their hands, the same silver light from the shield shines forth.

Applied Restriction

The shield can only take so much damage. Once it reaches its limit, it will crack and shatter. The shards of light will fly out and disperse.
The size and strength of the shield depends on the willpower of the sage casting it. Typically, the smaller the shield is, the stronger it will be. A particularly stubborn sage will be able to overcome this restriction, however.
