Shifters

Those with shifting magic are sometimes deemed untrustworthy due to their abilities, but in the past this was a lot worse as the cities of Kathrir usually were quite hostile towards these people. It took many movements to even gain the limited trust that shifters have today, but even that is shaky.
Most of the time, shifters stuck together. Living all in a cluster, those who were best at hiding their magic handling public encounters, and attempting to live normal lives despise the hate flowing from every direction.
There were many movements towards peace about thirty years before the present, usually involving shifters showcasing their powers and showing how they weren’t nearly as big of a threat as society thought. This resulted in shaky peace, but those who still hold to their older beliefs are still aggressive towards shifters of any kind.
Valyria has a less intense relationship with shifters, due to Valyria's less stable magic lead to them not being considered as dangerous anymore by the other, more dangerous magic users simply becoming more of a priority.
Nowadays, shifters are no longer treated as bad as they were a long time ago, but the culture is still healing. Some still receive scathing looks as they walk the streets of their homes, many still live in groups like the old days.
