Old Fae

The old fae were a species that lived a few centuries ago before undergoing violent change and then vanishing without a trace, leaving only their confused descendants behind.
Their wings were feathered unlike a lot of other flying species. This trait would have stayed prominent in both continents, but while the fae in Kathrir lived on to become the Balonair with the help of a goddess, in Valyria they were tracked down and "slain" by a dangerous beast and turned into the Fae that live today.
Both of these processes changed them beyond recognition, effectively rewriting their DNA into two completely different species.
Any other fae of the time just... vanished. No-one knew where they went, and they weren't found at all for the centuries leading up to the modern day. They are now considered extinct.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The old fae were six-limbed humanoids, with two arms, two legs, and a pair of feathered wings with small hands. They also had long, non-prehensile tails mostly used to control flight.

Colouring

As for color, the old fae were pretty colorful, with vibrant wing feathers being very common. Sometimes this vibrancy spread to their eyes as well.
Some fae had iridescent wings, which was an incredibly rare trait for their species. Those with iridescent were thought to be blessed by the gods.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Old Fae were omnivorous, but preferred to eat fruit and leafy greens more than meat. They tended to dry the fruits to store for winter.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The old fae primarily lived in the more mountainous regions, but often left and made settlements in further territories. Due to this, they were very widespread on both continents.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Old Fae had exceptional hearing, and used it to their advantage to hunt. Their vision was also above average, though vision problems weren't very uncommon.
