The Golden Hand

The Golden Hand, commonly known as the Golden Gauntlet (The Emperor's Hand) is a beautifully designed artifact, with a great and terrible secret held in its clutches. This artifact is of tremendous cultural significance to the Empire of Mitford, and the Children of the Ahrog. It symbolizes the independence that their people have bought in blood, for within the golden grasp it is rumored to hold the eyes of the Giant oppressor of myth, the Lord of Fire and War. It is the symbol of their truth, their control over what they could become, savagery hidden carefully behind layers of wealth and nobility.   The artifact is golden, with diamonds embedded into the center of the hands, and they are located in the war room, and the diplomats seat.

History

The artifact was created with the rising of Mitford, symbolizing the defeat of the Fire Giants. Rumors say that the hands were forged by the first Emperor, who had his hands coated with molten gold, heated with the furnaces of the Giants.   These hands have been passed to each successor, symbolizing their power as the head of the state and religion. Although the hands are often kept separate are reunited in times of war, where they are marched before the armies as a moral boost.

Significance

The hands are a symbol of a hard earned freedom, and the control that the people have over their own destinies. The artifact and its symbology is important to the nobility, and to the commoners alike. Any who have the blood of the Ahrog in their veins can feel a tremendous pride from it.
