Ashford

Ashford is the smallest barony in the realm. Its borders are protected by large, thick walls built as a defence against George the Dragon King and his invasion. Even though Ashford quickly fell to the Dragon King, its walls remained and have kept the barony safe in the years since. Ashford’s baron, the half-elf Robert Alard, was fiercely loyal to the Good King. King Marius gave Alard the title of Baron when they rode to war against the Drow together. Since the Good King’s death, Ashford has still flown the royal banner (instead of that of the Protector), and has withheld as many resources as possible from the war effort without being labeled a traitor. Despite its small size, Ashford maintains a standing army of trained soldiers, and boasts some of the finest knights in all of Valoroth.
