The Lather

In the unsteady wars, not long before the reign of Carn, there was a brutal group called the Lather. Though they lacked finesse, they had enchanted themselves with a similar magic to the Helmet of Rage. Their magic was the original, actually, and Starsong copied it.
The Lather was a group of Kinds that would be Predators in the future. They mainly chased food sources, moving further and further into distant land. Too dumb to farm thier own crops, they instead stole animals and livestock from others. They did not, however, eat Kinds, considering it cannibalism.
As time went on, the Lather split up and moved into smaller groups, breaking off into smaller and smaller factions.
Eventually, every beast everywhere feared attack from the Lather. Some tried to appease them by giving up food voluntarily, but no matter how much the Lather ate, they always wanted more.
There was, however, one area that remained untouched.
The Forest Of Plenty.
Though much more scattered than what came later, the forests were still too dense for the Lather to plow through, and thus they were ignored.
That ignorance was their undoing.
The Plantae rose up and attached themselves to the life energy of the Lather. They sucked it up until the Rage was gone and the Lather were no more.
But it came at a cost.
The Plantae and their unwilling hosts fused into one, with the Plantae controlling the mind and the Lather contributing the framework for the body.
Once the transformation was complete, the ultimate physical form was malleable, so much so that their descendants never had a true form. Each one was unique, though the Plantae undercurrent remains.
Thus, the Minimites were born. No one knows why they are all so small, but some muse that perhaps the Lather got in one final stab before they were extinguished.
