Carn

Born to Darkmouth parents, Carn was raised by Imagination Mages after his village was destroyed by the Lather.
Carn grew up obsessed with Furyine, the magic that the Lather harnessed to give themselves Rage. He also researched Bide- of the Spirit Dimension- Conseal- of the Shadow Beasts- Alimorphi- of the Shapeshifters- Stills - of the Skyese- Thornmae- of the Plantae- Warri - of the Beasts - and shadowy Pure Magic- of the humans.
With all of his knowledge, Carn found himself hunted by jealous beasts who wanted his knowledge for their own uses.
So, to keep his family safe, Carn fled and established a fortress that would later come to be known as the Carn Wood.
There, he continued his studies, content to live alone and in secret. However, word spread about his wisdom. Some persistent beasts found their way through the back doors of his defenses, and refused to leave without being taught by him
So Carn gathered an army of scholars, then snuck away with a departing group, right under the noses of his pursuers.
He traveled all the way to the southern end of the continent, while the remaining students spread word that he had died of a brain tumor.
But, once the jealous beasts had left, the students snuck to Carn’s new home- a castle that would be later known as the Haven.
Carn stayed there until he died of old age. Even once he was gone, the Haven remained a sanctuary for those who wanted to escape the long arm of the Unsteady Wars.
