Passing

History

When a demon dies, there is a chance that its spirit will stay. The soul becomes very kind and sweet, but after a while, the mind might become afraid and dangerous. So what the living decided to do was to kill off the spirits, wiping them out from existence, it was the only way they knew how to do it. Decades have passed, and the living discovered on how to get rid of the spirits without wasting the energy to kill them. But they would do so without the dead finding a counterpart in the material plane, which leads to other problems, such as them returning more dangerous, this took a long to happen but when it first, killing became the way to rid of them once more. After two eras, the living demons figured out why they would come back and decided to give the spirits time top find their counterpart before having them depart.

Execution

There are three distinct ways to do so as they learned more about the souls of their own, the first being outright killing, not with physical weapons but magical ones and it depends on the layer on what would work. The second they used blood that came from someone in the material plane, mixed with some herbal remedies, but since they did this without the spirit knowing their counterpart, they came back after 1,000 years. The third and most effective was to use the blood of someone from the material plane and the herbal remedies and to make sure they have figured out their counterpart.

Components and tools

At first, they used magic to kill them, and it differs depending on the layer. The second time they had to use two different kinds of herbal remedies, one that heals and one that calms emotions with blood from any living sentient creature from the material plane. Before doing this process, the demon that is passing the dead on must know if the spirit is ready to move on.
