Corruption

If a certain item, monster, area, or source of any nature does not have a special description as to how it corrupts things, then the general rules for corruption apply as listed in the table below. Each time a character comes near a source of corruption or attempts to use something corrupted, they must make a DC 12 Wisdom Saving Throw. On a fail, they take a point of corruption. It is up to the GM's discretion to adjust this value accordingly if no extra explanation is given for a source of corruption.

Corruption Statuses

Pure: Unable to get corruption
None: no traces of corruption/ completely safe
Signs: Person, object, or location has been exposed but is not strong enough to affect the thing or person that is corrupted. Cannot spread corruption
Mild: Small traces and can spread corruption, though objects will get possessed at this point and onwards
Severe: Distortion takes place and has a tendency to lash out, which can spread corruption at a rapid rate.
Seething: The person infected will no longer have control over themselves and will completely distort, spreading corruption where ever they go. the location infected will be very hostile and anything that resides has a high chance of corruption. Any object infected will be possessed by the corruption which will cause them to attack unprovoked and spread corruption.

Transmission & Vectors

The corruption is mostly spread when an untainted creature or thing gets into contact with someone who is infected with it, or by the void warlocks who's sole purpose is to spread the corruption.

Treatment

Distilled Starlight is the only way to stop a continual spread of corruption, though it would have to be reapplied every time the infected gets reinfected. The only way to truly cure the corruption is through either death or finding a pool of Starlight .

Prognosis

Signs of Corruption: The creature starts having mild coughs now and then and a few hallucinations, occasionally seeing things in purple and black color.
Mild Corruption: The creature starts being a bit more reckless than usual and also becomes mildly afraid of certain things for the first time in its life. The creature also becomes distracted easily and its eyes start turning black.
Severe Corruption: The creature starts having parts of its flesh have parasite-like infections that look like purple spores. Other parts of the creature's flesh start becoming withered.
Seething Corruption: The corruption will start to take hold of the mind of the creature, some will start to commit horrendous crimes others will isolate. No matter what happens one way or another the corruption will deform you and turn you into a monster that can only be killed with starlight.

Prevention

Keeping distilled starlight on you and remaining in the safety of walls that are enchanted by starlight or within an area that has a starlight barrier. Though depending on how far into the corruption a person gets the cure could leave behind a scar, keeping the tainted area appears corrupt when it's not.
