Delver

The world of Valmautéra is a graveyard of ancient civilisations. In the distant past, The Sundering laid great empires low as the earth boiled and swallowed up entire tracts of land. This cataclysm gave rise to The Temblor, making the fury of the earth a fact of life on the world. It also created The Shattergloom and filled the bones of the world with the ruins of great cities and their now lost and secret treasures.
Those brave, or foolish enough to venture into the depths to recover ancient treasures, magical artefacts or other trinkets are called Delvers. Some are idealistic, looking to uncover ancient secrets around the cause of the sundering, with the aim of restoring stability and prosperity to the world. Most However risk the dangers of the Shattergloom for a chance at fame, glory but most importantly, fortune. It is a profession to which many aspire and few live long enough to succeed. Delvers are viewed with a mix of pity and awe by other folk, with a number of Delvers achieving something of a celebrity status for their exploits.
