Valkyrie Dawn Online (A Macross Quatoria Chronicles story)

Prelude: 2077     2 years after Feyran's Tears a new VR Game swept the galaxy by storm. The game was called Sword Of Legends Online, a game that within a short period of time would become a galactic phenomenon with billions playing.   A Game that would become the perfect target for a cyber-warfare attack   While the game developers touted impenetrable security, it only took six months for a mysterious element only identifying themselves as Serpent Corps to take over all servers, initiating what would later be revealed as the Terminus Protocol which would kill the player if they disconnected from the game in any way even if their character were slain in the game.   Players that came from all walks of life, Students, Retirees, Factory workers, Off Duty first responders and Doctors, Royalty and high ranking officials...   ...off duty military personnel both terrestrial and in the many fleets around the galaxy.   Chaos ensued as the Serpent Corps practically declared war on the UN and her allies in and out of the game.   High Value Targets were assassinated in game and if they ensured their safety in game they were tracked down through their connection and assassinated in the real world     fleets and planetary Garrisons were attacked in their weakened state   The trapped players had to survive in a fantasy game that was becoming ever changing deadlier and even more frightening. Though they were not the primary target they were not safe     the body count began to rise   In This Chaos though Heroes would rise   The Fleets and Militaries of the UN, GSA, and SRE that had not been affected, mobilized to re-enforce the afflicted fleets and military bases across the galaxy, and then to get the affected military personnel to safety. Many of Quatoria's various High alert Task force fleets were part of this mobilization     Quatoria and Task Force 36 had their own objective. To find the perpetrators of the attack and find a way to stop Terminus Protocol     Law enforcement, Quatoria, Galactic, Planetary, National, State, and local investigated the case and along with first responders began efforts to get the affected civilians to safe areas so that they can be monitored and their bodies kept alive.   Also of important note were heroes within the game as well that fought through all the dangers inside to the source many of them were only gamers   In the end though all were heroes and after three years of determination victory was achieved and the perpetrators were stopped either through the game or in Real life   Billions were saved, but the cost was high   Over the course of three years 2 million players died during the incident as well as another 2 million non players from the various Garrisons ships and colony ships attacked and/or destroyed during the initial confusion.   It was never confirmed that the organization that had perpetrated these attacks was ever truly taken down or just faded into the shadows       Today: in the Year 2080   "Welcome to Valkyrie Dawn, the world while similar to your own is filled with possibilities, but, make no mistake, it is also a world filled with peril. Since there are many paths you can take there are many options when it comes to this, though it is prudent to not overspecialize since fights can happen anywhere and while the game does make it a bit easier, all weapons, armor and vehicles will act best in the environment they are best suited for. The better you get the more money you make, the more money you make the better equipment you can get"   "There is another topic that needs to be discussed though, this is an entirely optional function in this game, it is called the Combat Trauma Simulator. This function allows you to feel pain realistically upon injury in game. While the injury only happens to you in game and can be healed it feels as close to the real thing as possible. While these injuries canot kill you there are potential risks that comes with the Combat Trauma Simulator that you should know about, which includes residual pain even after leaving the game, psychological problems, and even Paralysys, heart attack, stroke, brain failure which usually lead to death. Because of this your vitals and all other bodily diagnostics and brain functions are monitored closely. If any non life threatening problems persist the game will automatically shut down the Combat Trauma Simulator. If a life Threatening problem occurs during use of the Combat Trauma Simulator, you will be logged out of the game and emergency services in your area will be called..."   Valkyrie Dawn Online, a multi function mix of MMORPG, shooter and combat simulator was the next big hit being played across the galaxy. Loosely based on the history and current events of the world around the players it was also secretly a recruiting tool for Project Quatoria, an elite military and law enforcement arm of the United Nations and her allies and the Driscoll Academy for the Gifted An advanced school and research center created by Famous Holovid Bounty Hunter, Genius, and philanthropist Roy Driscoll.   The game, co developed by Roy Driscoll himself was introduced in 2078 and is running strong today. Even with the Combat Trauma System there had been no fatalities or permanent injuries as it was closely monitored by the Driscoll Academy and and elements of the Cyberspace Operations Departments of Project Quatoria and the Armed forces of the UN and her Various Allies.   On the game's 2 year anniversary this changes as a Community Contributor Known as Sierra Hotel becomes the game's first fatality. An outside force taking total control of the VF-22S he was flying, ejecting it's arms and legs and cutting it's limiter. The VF now only a fighter pulling high G Maneuvers that began crushing his avatar's body as his Combat Trauma System would not turn off. His followers heard his screams for a good five minutes before he disconnected and his VF exploded.   The Incident was immediately investigated by the proper authorities and, all Military and Law enforcement personnel were ordered to disconnect immediately. Attempts to shut down servers were made, however all attempts were in vain. as a result 3 more died the next day and Quatoria Assistant Director Thomas Drake was contacted   "Puppet-master protocol has been established, do not attempt to disable this or warn the media or there will be dire consequences, you have seen but a small taste of what we can do" Came the unidentifiable female voice over his phone   What is "Puppet-master protocol?" Drake asked   ..."Puppet-master Protocol is a solution"   "What kind of Solution"   " A Cyber attack, that will expose all classified, files, e-mails and strategic locations to everyone else. Then everyone will see what you all have done and know where to find you all"   "While we do not have full control of your system we do pull it's strings those strings being server control and control of one of the hallmarks of determining your best players, the Combat Trauma Simulator.
