Victor Swiftwind made his first million gold by the age of thirty, and by then he had already inherited his family's vast fortune and married the young and beautiful Duchess of Winthroppe, Edna Drumming. Edna became Edna Swiftwind, Lady of Oaksleigh, and the two would go on to have four children together- Arthur, Margaret, Edward, and Elspeth.
Victor retired from adventuring after the birth of his first daughter and turned to a life of business, learning to act with the same shrewd and sometimes cold-blooded decisiveness that had made him such an effective huntsman. It earned him few loyal allies and many enemies, but Victor persisted with his affairs until his sudden death. Some have speculated that Victor's death was from heartbreak, as Victor would never admit that his son Arthur, who had been missing for five years, must certainly be dead. It was that much more of a shock for Essenmark high society when Arthur returned only days after Victor's death, supplanting his younger brother's stake in the family's estate and granting Arthur the title of Lord of Oaksleigh.

Victor was built much like Arthur, only slightly taller and leaner. As he got older, Victor lost quite a bit of weight and Margaret had trouble getting her father to eat enough to sustain himself.

Now deceased, Victor Swiftwind was an explorer and hunter who became a ruthless investor and businessman. This allowed him to build onto his family's already sizeable fortune to an incredible extent but also sapped away his ability to care for and appreciate his family. Victor died just days before Arthur returned to Lannora Ivy, having always believed that his eldest son was alive and would find his way back one day.
