Utangard

Utangard - the realm both within and beyond all other realms. In this place, the boundaries between planes are permeable membranes, allowing passage for those with the proper magic and/or knowledge.   Utangard will come off as somewhat familiar to those who know the lore of the Forgotten Realms, after all, the two worlds share some deities. The topography couldn't be more different however, as Utangard has only two continents. Most people live on the big one which is called Grunjär. The world government and the capital of the global empire resides in the smaller continent, which is called Antorius.   All of Utangard is united via a series of conquests and treaties under a global government referred to as the First Council. Under them, the lesser lords in the Second Council. The citizenry seems content with this system so long as monsters are culled frequently and there are no wars between the races or factions. There are yells of anarchy in the West, however...   A recent discovery in the vast Safahl Desert has yielding a boon to chemistry and weaponry: gunpowder. The invention of thunderarms propelled this place from a humble oasis to a sprawling city and the ways of warfare have already changed across the world.   This is a fantasy world on the precipice: some say the age of magic seems to be giving way to the age of technology, others say that magic is stronger than ever - dangerously so. There are conspiracies in the government, entities beneath the soil, and horrors in the other planes waiting for their chance to invade. Utangard's ages are marked by their greatest conflicts, and the Third Era seems ready to give way to the next catastrophe.
