Ustril

The land of Ustril is broad full of varying terrain, From the unexplored, snowy capped mountains in the north-east to the barren, seemingly endless deserts cutting the land in half, and all that lies in between. Most of the land in Ustril is on one super contentment with ragged inconsistent coastlines, as well as many islands and island chains through out the great seas. Though the middle (Mortal realm) of the world is the most populated, many realms stem from Ustril, The elemental realms (Fire, Water, Air, Earth), the horrid Necroverse where daemons and other fiends stem, Valhalla where the spirts of the brave undead go (Those unjust rest in the Necroverse), The high Celestial plane of Constelara, and finally the middle realm between Constelara and the Mortal realm known only as the "Half Way". Though geography is fascinating, so are those that inhabit these strange lands where magic and the unknown run wild. Those inhabiting the land of Ustril are as varying as its terrain, with dwarfs and elves and all that lay in between. The main intelligent and often competing races of Ustril are the Dwarfs, Humans, Elves, Orcs, Halflings, and Gnomes with some species consisting of various factions and sub-races. Even though these are the big contenders there are even more who play a less "land conquering" game. In most big cities you would find scholars of magic, bustling markets, and many differing groups of organized religion. Though much of the world is discovered, little knowledge was uncovered of past conflicts or world changing events, but there are quite a few crazed (maybe correct) cults who travel the lands spread their thoughts on the matter, still the world is quite young. Most cities are run by an in town governor who tends to work for a higher up of that race, but the territories are often left to towns alone rather than sprawling empires under a racial banner or other criteria. Now armed with knowledge of the inhabitants, it is time to uncover the use of magic in this land. At this stage in Ustril's life, magic has not only been discovered, but spread widely through the lands, but most Ustrilite historians believe that the magic originated from the barren desert that seperates the land. When first discovered some odd some years ago magic was widely spread, but as the years dredged along the practice of these arts have become more special and most often left to the few magic guilds in Ustril. Magic has been studied for the majority of Ustril's existence and most scholars are under the impression that magic is drawn from the "Half Way" and sent out in the world from rifts opened when magic is cast, these same scholars share the selective knowledge that the "Half Way" might also be used as a way to travel between realms but as of right now they are uncertain. Finally we will go more in-depth on the geography of Ustril. As previously stated the main splitting force in Ustril is its world dividing desert, though people often pass through is is still quite dangerous and can only be done on specific paths, even still death is far from uncommon on these treks. The land between the middle desert known as The Karoo desert and the great "Copper field" peaks in the north-east is dominated by an unforgiving marsh land, but there are still great places there such as the Forest of Glendaro and Funglado an unique mushroom forest full of odd creatures. and finally in the "Copper Field" mountains, there lies a great tundra peninsula known as Tundarinu where most life in the mountain stays. Down in the south, on the other side of the Karoo desert there are many standard forests, but in a small strip of land before the Karoo there is a broad sweeping Savannah, here is Dolish. Due to the dense forests in the South most life stays within 200 miles of the coast. By closing the basic geography of Ustril, the introduction of my world comes to a close.
