Halfling

Often the butt of jokes for their smaller size, Halflings are a smaller humanoid race more closely related to Humans than any other hominid.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Halflings are smaller bipedal humaniods, often with semi-pointed ears. All members of the species lack a digit on each foot and often lack a similar number on their hands.

Genetics and Reproduction

Halflings reproduce sexually, with a similar gestation period to humans. Pregnancy usually lasts nine to ten months, with twins and triplets common.

Growth Rate & Stages

Similar to Humans, Halflings are fairly helpless for the first five years of their life, though they reach sexual maturity much sooner, with puberty starting around 8 to 14 years old. They are considered adults at about 20 years old.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are omnivorous, with a strong preference for heavier food and dairy, which they have adapted to digest.

Biological Cycle

Halflings are affected by the seasonal magic, their mood and behavior often changing dramatically between midwinter and midsummer.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Halflings are common all over the continents, being the second most populous race in Ustos.

Average Intelligence

Halflings are of average intelligence comparable to Humans, though they are more competent with agriculture and predicting weather patterns.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Similar to their close relatives, Halflings can hear between 20Hz and 10.000Hz, with lower and higher frequencies unpleasant and often damaging. Their sight is average, and most individuals of the species are capable of innate magic.
