The Urtbi Codex is a cryptic, ancient manuscript containing extensively detailed records about a mysterious, seemingly alternate Earth where the hominid species we recognize today as Homo neanderthalensis, Homo denisova, Homo floresiensis, and the proposed Homo luzonensis, thrived alongside Homo sapiens, shaping a profoundly different evolutionary and cultural trajectory around the globe from the one we have experienced as Homo sapien Sapiens of Earth, the only human species to conquer the unforgiving hands of time... Thus far...
The appearance this Codex was as sudden as it was mysterious; delivered by an anomalous rupture in the fabric of spacetime, as if the universe itself wished for the people of our Earth to discover these hidden secrets. Its pages are densely filled with ancient glyphs which our recorded history has never seen; intricate maps labeled with names and political borders we have never claimed, roads we have never paved, even supposed ancient landmarks which have never been discovered; and depictions of unique societies with levels of diversity which the modern humans of Earth have never seen, suggesting a work of staggering historical and scholarly complexity. Much like the enigmatic Voynich Manuscript, this Codex cunningly resists any immediate interpretation. Its impressive documentation lies hidden behind mystically foreign languages and fantastical symbols yet to be understood; leaving an invigorating puzzle for Earth's greatest minds to decipher.
Amid the initial craze of curiosity and skepticism which roared through the public and reverberated from the corners of every historic and scientific field, a team of carefully selected pundits and intellectuals with a vast array of specialties between them had been quietly assembled and set to work, aptly given the job title of Decipherers. One of the first Decipherers on the case suggested that they might be looking at a fantastical piece of ancient speculative fiction which was written by some lost, maybe even prophetic race of people, seemingly based on a theoretical alternate timeline of Earth's events; which he humorously dubbed "Earth-B.”
Considering the eventual unveiling of a surprisingly intricate and advanced understanding of the natural laws of our world and even the universe around us, as well as the epoch-long documentation of countless events spanning from prehistoric to modern times - many of which we've only recently begun to understand - the team grew more enamored with the idea that they may be looking at something much more groundbreaking than an ancient piece of fiction or speculation; could this truly be something from another Earth than our own? The project supervisor decided that a revelation of such magnitude called for an official naming of this mysterious alternate Earth. The team of Decipherers who had long since become appreciative of the humorous moniker Earth-B simply opted for a clever stylization, and so the interdimentional exonym of Urtbi was born.
The timeline of Urtbi appears to have diverged from our Earth approximately 100,000 years ago,
leading to a world that feels extraordinarily alien, and yet, eerily familiar.
