The Akaris Military Academy Annual Fall Festival

Overview

Every fall at the Akaris Military Academy, the professors organize a massive fall festival full of drinks, food, entertainment, and purchasable merchandise. This event was created by the professors to celebrate the regional cultural differences between students and promote the flow of the Alliance's economy through purchases at the festival.

Historical Contexts

Before the creation of the academy, festivals like this were very common in the Alliance's politically neutral capital of Egostead. Ever since the Alliance's conception, these festivals would occur to celebrate the regional differences and cultures between the roundtable nobles. Only five years ago did Professor Darius Liir suggest the creation of the Academy's fall festival, and the other professors were instantly on board with the idea.

Entertainment

The entertainment makes the festival or so is said by the common folk of Urina. Oftentimes, there are performances done by minstrels and bards such as sword swallowing, staged sparring matches, dance performances, musical theatre productions, and musical concerts. However, according to Professor Alighieri, the entertainment budget was cut rather short this year.

Economic Contexts

Any festival is great for merchant companies, but because the Academy has so much publicity merchants will fight tooth and nail for even the smallest booth. Notable merchants at the Akaris Military Academy Fall Festival include Lillia Heidrunn of Heidrunn Antiques as well as Paola di Pietro and Alessandra di Pietro of the Di Pietro Merchant Company.

Food and Drink

Much like its counterpart in Egostead, the Akaris Military Academy has no shortage of food and alcohol. All sorts of meads, beers, whiskeys, and wines are sold by merchants at the festival. Popular foods at the festival include grilled meats with lots of sauces as well as sweet and savory pastries that need no utensils when eaten.
