The Strigidae
General:
The Strigidae is the administrative and noble district of Achiad, housing the most powerful individuals in the dynasty and the most beautiful architecture the nation has ever seen. It was the location of the original Achiad, and still retains hints of its humble origins, despite the old shacks being torn down and replaced with the grandeur of the age of ambition. Underneath it is the adventurer's guild, filling an underground cave system that is said to hold more secrets than most inhabitants know of.
Description:
Beautiful white streets, comprised of curved stone bricks lain in semi-circular patterns, like two waves of flat stone that rush from the edge of the street, meeting its twin in the center. Numerous shapes and lines of great carved stone line the street, two lines marking pathways, solid semi-circles or squares denoting the entrance of some great structure or another.
Tall buildings line these streets, made of intricate white stone, the space between them filled by many small parks. Parks full of trees and small streams, benches, and bushes, lined with brightly lit alleyways and fences. The greenery of these parks climbs up the walls of the buildings and across parts of their roofs in an organized and well-cared for fashion, hanging down with vines and flowers of many shapes and colors. Some of these buildings bear bridges and pathways that cross over the thick stone roads, connecting higher floors by means of extravagant, covered walkways.
The roads themselves occasionally are broken by a clean, clear blue canal, that must be crossed by means of well-carved bridges, adorned by intricate carvings and statues. The white walls are brought color in the form of draping fabrics, designs of paint or carving, and the flowers that grow across their forms. The walls of the buildings are lined with many archways, set firmly into the great white walls. Each of these archways bears a blue glass window, each archway carved with ornate columns.
Upon all of this grandeur, tall dome-like roofs set atop the structures, capping them off and standing proud. The sun glints off of their colorful blue shingles, and the white spires that adorn them pierce upwards as if challenging the clouds. From these domes come an assortment of similarly domed towers, small peaking arch windows, as well as flags and kites.
A number of buildings are connected to each other over the alleyways between them, by means of small bridges too narrow for foot traffic, that seem designed entirely to support greenery growing between the two buildings. A trickle of water pours over certain portions of the narrow bridges on either side of them, forming a short curtain of water and green above the alleyways. These same alleyways are graced with frequent glass structures, business signs, benches, and large stone planters.
