Thristlebug
"I don't see how this doesn't look tasty to you"
-Riq-Nol, Kalari youth of Sun Lash
Thristlebugs are insects native to the Redlands and Southern Steppe . They are typically 6 inches to 1 foot in length. Their colors range from yellow-brown to black. They serve as an important food source for many of the creatures of their native habitat, including the Kalari. Outside of the Redlands, they are seen as pests, capable of destroying entire harvests when their population gets out of hand.
Basic Information
Growth Rate & Stages
Thristlebugs hatch from their eggs in the spring, typically after the first rainfall. The larva, called a "Grub," which resemble large caterpillars, will begin to eat ferociously. It will grow from the size of a coin to roughly 1-2 hands in only a week's time. When it's ready it will shed it's skin, emerging in it's adult form.
Once it reaches adulthood, it will begin to travel in huge swarms, long distances in search of new food. They will migrate hundreds of leagues looking for edible plant-matter.
