Seelie Court

The Seelie Court are the group of Chult who follow the The Vermilion Queen. They split from the anscestors of the Unseelie Court several thousand years ago and have been in a low-level conflict called the Chult Civil War ever since. Most of the Seelie Chult are located in the Zordal Forest and surrounding regions.

The Chult from the Seelie Court are often found with green, turquoise, teal and blue shells. Many choose to decorate themselves with colonies of Moss, flowers or bio-luminescent mushrooms.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

Before the split, chult were entirely homogenous. Afterward, both groups have diverged from the original monolithic culture. The Seelie became more artistic, looking inward at themselves and trying to express what they found. Seelie Chult often take up a form of artistic pursuit, be it music, poetry, or painting. Seelie Chult love to create beautiful things, but as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Shared customary codes and values

The Seelie Chult are distinguished from their unseelie brethren in behavior. Those of the Seelie Court tend to be more lighthearted, curious and playful. They tend to not dwell on their sorrows and to rejoice in merriment. This is not to say that they are all kind or that they are above anger, but they tend to have a more favorable disposition to outsiders than their cousins. As a result they enjoy better relations with the rest of the world than the followers of the The Red Queen.

Common Etiquette rules

Chult of the Seeleie court find it customary to make grand introductions when they first make someone's acquaintance. This usually involves elaborate gestures of humility and a listing of one's titles and accomplishments. Outsiders usually find this practice charming the first time but grow to see it as tedious before long.

Chult have a very strict hierarchy that seems largely opaque to those not well versed in their culture. It is considered of great importance to always treat one's superiors with the utmost respect. This means that Chult offend easily and have unusual sets of customs to correct a slight depending on the ranks of either party. This could be anything from a formal apology to an honor duel to even a lifetime of servitude should the severity be strong enough. This leaves most non-chult reluctant to engage in the affairs of the bugs, which the chult seem perfectly fine with.
