Earthmotes

An Earthmote is a piece of land that has been given flight via magic. These range in size from large rocks to island sized chunks of earth. Once airborne, an earthmote hovers some distance above the ground, sometimes beyond the clouds. Once it reaches its peak, it will remain in stable position, bobbing up and down slightly but rarely changing location or altitude.The process that creates earthmotes is poorly understood, but is theorised to be a combination of naturally occurring earth and air elemental magic confluence. New earthmotes have been observed forming but this is considered a rare phenomenon.

Manifestation

An earthmote is simply a large hunk of earth that floats above the ground. Many have vegetation that continues to grow undetered by the change of scenery. Some earthmotes have been observed to carry waterfalls but it is unknown where this water originates. Powerful mages have been said to be able to create earthmotes but it seems to be a well guarded secret.

Localization

Earthmotes can occur from seemingly any area of solid ground. Earthmotes seem to be prevalent in areas with large amounts of air magic such as the Sindoran Heights.
