Bay of Woe

Located where the forest meets the desert in the Bay of Woe lies a grand city, its inhabitants consisting mostly of Elves and Centaurs. These elves being somewhat less civil than their brethren, and the Centaurs more civilized than their brothers. Making for a interesting mix of culture and temperament. The last city and bastion of civilization before the grand Barren Wastes where most Centaurs are found, eventually leading into the grand deserts.

History

As the sibling war raged a faction of the Centaurs sided with the Elves, a great battle was fought with the Dark Clan and the Ehrdane where the Centaur leader's tragic sacrifice ensured the Draco-Elven alliance won the battle of the Peninsula and the Bay where he died was named Bay of Woe. A great monument was constructed in memorial of the great Centauri - A 30 meter tall statue in iron, to forever cry tears of blood.   During the construction a small city emerged from the need of housing, blacksmiths, miners, merchants and before long farms and farmstead popped up along the shore, elves and centaurs settling down. The city quickly became the biggest place of importance in the area. Neither the Elves nor the Centaur accepted either of them to claim sovereignty over the Bay of Woe, the place was the reason for great disputes for ages, until a council of 10 was elected to run it, 5 Elves, and 5 Centaurs - making it a sovereign city state, not belonging to the Elves, nor any of the Centaur clans.

Territories

Its territory isn't all that big, its the bay itself and its forested areas as well as the surrounding farmlands leading further inland to the south towards the Barren Wastes where the majority of the Centaur Clans territories are.

Military

One thing that sets the Bay of Woe apart militarily is the unusual acceptance of the Centaurs here to have others ride them. The standard tactic is to have a decently armored Centaur equipped with a two-handed Falchion, its curved, long and big blade combined with the Centaurs speed and strength makes for devastating slashing attacks, even known to dent plate armor. The elven rider equipped with a bow, shooting down combatants at the sides and the rear, protecting the devastating centaur advance.

Foreign Relations

Other Elves look upon the Woe Elves as distasteful and less civilized, and to be fair, to some degree they are... At least to elven standards. And how they can stand the brutish nature of the Centaur is the question of the century.   Most Centaurs look upon the Woe Centaurs with distaste as well. The whole ideas of debasing themselves by lettering others ride them into combat is a disgrace, and pretending to be all "civilized" as their Elven comrades just proves they have no honor nor respect for Centaur tradition.
