Rawson Railroad Company closes

Life, Failure / Mishap

1817
30/6

Following the Blackstone Engine Heist of 1817, faith in the safety of rail travel dissipated overnight in Serrano. As a result, Rawson Railroad Company was forced to shut its doors.

The Rawson Railroad Company was founded in 1702 by Phillip Rawson. It serviced the islands around Loganfield. It was hugely successful for 100 years. However, during the 19th century it saw a steady decline as opportunists and vagabonds robbed the train lines and escaped via horseback. The final blow came in 1817 when the train engine was stolen from one of their trains. Trust in rail travel plummeted. Phillip Rawson III was the CEO when the company was forced to close its doors.   There was one boon to come from this closure. After the failure of his company, Phillip Rawson III received an insurance payout for his train, due to the nature of the incident. This payment would go into a bank account for his infant son to use on his eighteenth birthday. This payment would be the initial investment that the child, Harold Rawson, would use to found his weapon company Rawson and Dupont Ltd. Rawson and Dupont would soon dominate the firearm space and earn scores more than the Rawson Railroad Company ever would.
