The Great Schism 457 B.E.C.

Great War of Kronus

The Great Schism occurring in 457 B.E.C. was when the Extranus threat first emerged. A Cardinal, thought to be one of the most devout Pius on Kronus declared Rhea and the other lords false idols and devoted himself to a new deity, one he called The Patriarch. He was immediately expelled from the Ministorum Divinius and was declared a heretic and was hunted down to be arrested. Moltar was able to escape Kronus to the asteroid belt and a gather supporters for several years, all while being chased fervently by the newly formed Inquisition.   Eventually Moltar was captured in a surprise raid by the Inquisition and was taken back to Kronus to stand trial for sedition and heresy. After long negotiations Moltar promised no violence or trouble to the Kronus government if he and his followers were allowed a place for themselves. The only reason this was even entertained was because Moltar had not technically done anything illegal, and had not done anything violent. Because of this he was granted settlement rights to the second moon of Kronus known as Externa. He and his followers were allowed to peacefully leave the belt and move to the barren moon and after the initial settlement had been constructed. The Externas were given a certain level of autonomy within the Kronal government, but still had to obey the laws of the homeworld.   As the years went on more and more converts moved to Externa to be with the Great Scholar Moltar and his people. This caused concern on Kronus that eventually they may be able to challenge the power of the homeworld itself. Tensions grew between the two peoples for generations until there were no more Externas on Kronus or anywhere else in the system and the power of Externa inched closer and closer to that of the homeworld.
