Deret
Derets are small, rodent-like creatures that occupy various islands across Unos. They vary in appearance depending on region, but their size makes them identifiable to anyone, regardless of origin. Being called a "deret" usually means that you're obnoxiously persistent, and likely unwelcome. They're often considered a nuisance, though pet derets aren't uncommon. Many tameable derets come from the northern islands, but ferals can be found almost anywhere.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Derets have long, round bodies that end in a fat head, with no visible neck. The head has a long, square snout, with a subtle nose at the end. Their eyes are large, but wide, and sit on either side of a round face. Their ears are forward-facing, and end in a point going straight-up.
Four long and powerful legs keep their body off of the ground while standing. Each leg ends in a clawed foot, with three toes each. Their tails are long and slender, naturally blending in size from their abdomens until tapering at a point.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Derets are herbivorous. They can often be found snacking on mossberries, and sometimes the moss itself.
Additional Information
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Most commonly found in the north, but known to exist on almost every island in the world in one form or another.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The eyes of a deret are incredibly powerful. They can't see especially far, but what they can see, they can see very well. The eyes are placed in just such a way as to give a deret 160 degrees of vision, which helps them detect and avoid danger.
