Larisse

A large city within the country of Alshar, Larisse is known for its fine wines and beautiful women. It is also home to the university where students study magic. The city has been destroyed twice by monsters from beyond the stars, once during the War of the Five Kings and again during the Cataclysm. Now it is protected by an enormous wall.   Larisse is located in the northern part of Alshar. It is surrounded by the vast forests of the High Forest, which is the only place in the world where trees grow taller than five hundred feet. This forest is so thick that no one can see the sky above it.   The first time Larisse was attacked was during the War of the Five Kings. During the battle between King Kaelan II and his brother, Duke Leopold, an army led by the demon lord Sion invaded the country. The demon lord was defeated by Kaelan and his forces, but he managed to destroy the city before being killed.   Afterwards, the king ordered the construction of a massive stone wall around the town. He also made sure that the walls were tall enough to prevent any future invasions.   Another attack came during the Cataclysm, when the goddess Bahamut descended upon the world and destroyed almost everything. She had come to punish those who had wronged her, and she decided to destroy the entire world. Fortunately, the heroes of the land were able to defeat the goddess and save the world.   While the city itself survived, much of the surrounding area did not. Many of the buildings were reduced to rubble, and the land became barren. After the battle, the king ordered the rebuilding of the city, which took decades to complete.   Today, Larisse is still considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Its population consists mostly of merchants, nobles, and scholars. The city is also famous for its wine, which comes from the vineyards of the High Forest.
