Geography

The geography of Ulynorstead largely differs per region. From hills made out of sugar, to giant mushrooms that get you high. There's nothing too crazy here and everything is possible. Here is a list of some regions:

The Catlands

By far the largest biome in Ulynorstead, are the Catlands... Named after the many cats that dwell there. There are many species, with huge differences between them. Some fly, others spew fire, some are even sentient. In general, most of them are peaceful and the larger ones are used for transportation across the land. Acres fill the lands and most food production is done here: most people in Ulynorstead also live in the Catlands.

The Wonder Woods

Strange things happen in the Wonder Woods, people disappear... And others magically appear. It's said that the Wonder Woods connect to other planes of reality. But who would believe such non-sense? The people of Ulynorstead surely do... And everyone avoids these Woods.

The Sugar Mountains

Mountains made from chocolate, with sugar ice. Who doesn't dream of that? It's sounds like a dream, but don't be mistaken, the Sugar Mountains are patrolled by Sugar Bandits. Who wear armor out of hardened sugar! So enjoy your stay here, but be careful of where you go.

The Gray Wastes

Once a land filled with joy and happiness... Now only a desert remains. The Gray Wastes symbolizes our dark thoughts: our hidden fantasies, depression and anger. When you ask the people of Ulynorstead about the Gray Wastes, they will refuse to say anything about it. Except for the words: "We don't go there... No one goes there."

The Magical Woods

Unlike the Wonder Woods, people know what goes on in the Magical Woods. It's the home of the fey's, who build their homes into the trees. Fey's have lived here for as long as history remembers, but they are not the only one sharing this mystic forest. Evil creatures roam the earth, giant worms crawl around, together with big, aggressive lizards. The fey's will welcome you with open arms, but you will first need to get there. And wanderer: beware, evil things await you in the south of the woods.

Spirit Walker Domain

During the day, there's nothing special about this land. Trees cover the roads and small villages are spread throughout the the Domain. But make no mistake: this land is dangerous. At night, ghosts come out, with their sharp long nails, they want to feast on your soul. No one knows where they come from... And no one knows how large the Domain actually is. No has ever dared to wander out far... And those who have, never returned.

Giant Shroom Forest

A giant forest filled with mushrooms. These mushrooms might be giant but the fog they release can get you high! A few years ago, a potion was developed to stop the effects on the request of the Red Queen... Nobles who went on "Shroom Trips" were becoming a real problem. The inhabitants of these lands weren't happy about it either. They live in giant mushrooms themselves and are immune to their effects.

The Candy Fields

Nothing gets kids excited like a trip to the Candy Fields: filled with large pieces of candy and soda rivers. Apart from that, there are also candy mines here and the houses of the inhabitants consist out of gingerbread.

The Borelands

There are giant mushrooms here without magical effects... Apart from that, these lands are quite boring. Hence their name.

The Sea of Giant Talking Fish

In the north of Ulynorstead lies The Sea of Giant Talking Fish: there are almost no towns on the coast and that has a reason. You see, the giant talking fish are sentient... And they love to tell bad jokes. Additionally, they can survive on land for a short duration and won't hesitate to knock on your door to tell a bad joke... No matter the time of day. Even the White Court can't deal with it. What lies beyond the sea, is not known. No one in Ulynorstead feels bothered by it.

The Land of Milk and Honey

Filled with friendly, honey producing bees and cows: these lands are the heartlands of the White Court. People in here prosper and life is good.

North Land

The island along the coast remains a mystery for many... Some say, that there's a mine that leads to another world. No one has been able to confirm this, though.

The Royal Courts of Ulynorstead

Ulynorstead is governed by three royal courts.

The White Court of Madness

The White Court of Madness occupies the north and central area of the map, except for the Grey Wastes. Which is not owned by anyone. The ruler of The Court is Camilla Caramelcup. Generally, the people in the land are quite joyful and welcoming to foreigners. Out of all the lands present, the Whites are known to be by far the most insane.

The Red Court of Madness

The Red Court of Madness occupies the east of the map. The ruler of The Court is Valerie Butterbutt. Most people in the land are welcoming of foreigners, though they always remain cautious. The Court has an elite order of knights that protects its borders with the Spirit Walker’s Domain. Apart from that, the National Ranger Brigade patrols the Magical Woods. The Reds and Whites are in an alliance and have always been.

The Purple Court of Boredom

Unlike the Red and White Court the Purple Court hasn't always been here. One day, they just magically showed up and demanded land. The Reds and Whites laughed and offered them the lands down south. The Purple Court is very different from the Red and White Court: the people here are much more serious and aggressive. The Red and White Court don't like the Purple court, as they think that the Court is boring. So, that's why they called it "The Purple Court of Boredom." The ruler of court is Vlad Vladkoff Vladiff Vlads III.

Notable Towns and Cities

Town Town

One night, the new settlers decided that they needed a name for their town. They got drunk and the debate went on for many hours. They just couldn't come up with a name. Eventually one got angry and slammed his fist on the table. "Fuck it, let's just call it Town Town and go home!" He screamed, hence the name.

Jester Town

A town known for creating jesters that get employed throughout the known world. Home to the famous "Academy of Mischief & Laughter."

Westloaf

A town in the south, not in the west. No one knows the origin of the name and frankly no one really cares. One day, the inhabitants decided to split the town into three because "they were bored." And so West- East- and Mid-Westloaf came into existence. West-Westloaf was given to the Purple Court as the White Queen heard a bad joke from that village and didn't want anything to do with them anymore. Rightfully so, I say!

N.A.A.P.O.T.B

N.A.A.P.O.T.B or Names Are A Product Of The Bourgeoisie is a town bordering the Magical Woods. People here are obsessed with the term equality and think that names "are part of the problem..." So they have abounded the concept completely: referring to each other as inhabitants and travelers. The people here are known to be quite rebellious, but nevertheless obey the Red Court. In fact, the two have a deal with each other: the town continues to be part of the court with special autonomy, while the National Ranger Brigade offers protection against whatever evil comes out of the woods.

Crossroads Road

"Want to hear a story? Come to Crossroads Road!" Is as the saying goes. Crossroads Road is in the middle of Ulynorstead and a meeting point for many different cultures. There's always something to do or someone to talk to and travelers are always welcome in its many taverns.

Catfish Fish town

This town is known for masked women that try to seduce you... Don't do it! These aren't women! They are men! Men I say! Not that I speak from personal experience, of course. In any case, it's a longstanding tradition in this town that is also known for catching catfish on the river banks. Which are fish with catheads.
