The Birth of Ultimus

Era beginning/end

The beginning of creation itself, who created Ultimus, and what were there intentions...

It was said, in old transcripts hidden in temple ruins on Veritas, that there was a goddess called Velo. Velo could not speak, instead, whenever she talked a pool of dark matter spilled from her lips. She could not see, for her eyes were full of galaxies; and she could not feel, as anytime she reached out her body dissipated at the mere thought of contact.   Velo grew lonely, the only company she had was the dark matter that came from within her. So Velo created Uni, a joyful soul, full of happiness and intrigue. Uni shaped dark matter into asteroids, and from her gold eyes she made stardust. Together Uni and Velo would experiment with their abilities, eventually combining Uni's stardust with Velo's sight, and created life.   As the years went on, and Uni grew more and more attached to life, her heart yearned to make their miseries go away. As with mortal life came the birth of many more deities and mystical beings. Amongst these deities was a being whose name was lost to shadows; who did not like life, and who especially did not like Uni.   Through the increasing conflict between Uni and the shadow deity, life began to change, it divided its traits and it began moving across planets. Eventually, the planet, too, began to change; land rose above all else, life continued to evolve and change, and these changes were becoming more and more distinctive.   Eventually life changed to much that it recognized the deities, and with opens arms greeted them. All to eager for knowledge and stories of the gods, some of life fell fools to the traps of the shadow deity. This life became corrupted, with faces twisted in agony and hate, the shadows raged war on the stars. Those who were close to the deities stood in line at there defense; and those who chose neither side, nor could fully commit to one side, watched as their brothers and sisters destroyed each other. These grey lives, full of questions and suspicion, sought out the truth, in an effort to save them from themselves.   And so, this marked the true beginning of Ultimus, where the ignorant in the dark fought the self-righteous light, and as always, the in between greys continued their quest for truth, and resolve. Something that would not only motivate all of life, even into the next era, but also prove more difficult than a simple journey.
