The Passing of Aciei is a celebration of all of life and death, and a very particular and special life specifically.

History

TL;DR Aciei was a bright woman who, even as a child, would always look passed the gray scale views of life and focused at the goods while acknowledging when something was clearly bad. She challenged the world's negativity with new ideas and expressive motions, because of this many wars and illnesses ceased to exist and the idea of 'charities' was born. Aciei brought the word 'color' to the world, but back then it was a phrase meant to describe miracles of life and peaceful deaths. And when the time came for Aciei to leave the living world, the goddess Uni and her sire, Velo, showed mourning by bringing the experience of 'color' to the world. So every year, around the anniversary changing of seasons, a festival is held to remember Aciei and her perspectives in life, spring, and colors.

Execution

General

The official celebration starts at 6 pm on the big solstice day, and will last a period of roughly 36 hours, and will end around 6 am over-morrow. In the beginning hours, people will begin preparing long cookouts, running around the city handing out food and gifts and getting ready in the traditional style. Many mothers and older children spend most of their time cooking or operating various equipment in shops and businesses while younger children play games. The elderly are simply task with something known as 'timekeeping' which includes taking pictures/videos, encasing precious memories and tokens of events in spherical containers for future use.

Chalk/Powder

The use of vibrant and colorful chalks and powders represent flowers in bloom and nature slowly coming back to life. The use of these begins the morning of the first day and will continue going on throughout the whole festival until its official end.

Attire

Dedicated participants to the chalk/powder festivities begin their days by fully cleaning themselves and donning an all-white outfit of their individual tastes, though many traditionalists stick to flowy robes and dresses.

Components and tools

An arrangement of colorful powders, chalk, and other forms of vibrant displays are the main items used in the celebration.

Participants

Many, if not all, of the residents of Tod, attend the festival and engage in related activities throughout Auferetu, even to the point where there is a temporary migration period from Veritas to Auferetu and back during the duration of the festival.

Observance

The celebration begins after a season of 'gray life', meaning plants were wilted or still-life. Many residents of Veritas will travel through Middle Ground or along the coasts into Auferetu and finally to the city Eno for the main celebration.

Aciei- (Latin) meaning sight, glance, sharp edge, battle line, etc. Chosen not only to signify how she would grow to forever change one's perspective of the world but would literally influence the gods to give a new kind of 'sight' to the coming generations.
