Frozen in Another State

The Frost Monastery of Lieo is a frozen oasis, a place of calm surrounded by endless war. Drawing heavy inspiration from the Temple of Ruins, part of the main buildings are built directly into the rocky hills of the valley, while housing and various recreational buildings are built deep in the ground.
In a natural hollow unbothered by the frost and the cold, is a willow tree, trapped in an eternal spring. The branches reach beyond the ground and droop in long, dramatic swirls, the leaves hiding all that reside within. While the trunk is also hollow, everything but the leaves is petrified, hard and cold to the touch like a stone.   The tree, while a simple occurrence to those that have lived with it all their lives, is quite a spectacle to travelers and temporary guests. No other place could boast such a miracle of this nature; sure, the forests of Southern Union had their fair share of awe-inspiring trees, but it just wasn't the same. And it was found in the middle of a sick county, sick, with the disease of war.   When something extraordinary occurs in nature and captures the attention of the masses, stories are made. Depending on the nature of the story, it can attract certain types of people and seems to be a magnet of the unexplainable and coincidence.

Purpose / Function

The landmark is used primarily as a place of worship for those who live in the Frost Monastery, classes or individuals knee in the harsh snow surrounding the tree in prayer or meditation.   The hollow trunk can be used as a shelter from the outside, for non-Lieos to meditate and pray in, and to hold meetings.
